I’ve never taken a photography degree, my background is actually in New Media from British Columbia Institute of Technology – which helped me get a piece of paper that I could share to my potential web design employers. My program was a full year with only four weeks off. I don’t think I will ever take summer school again, trying to do homework in the heat while your friends are going hiking and camping, not so much fun. My degree included – graphic design, web design and development, video filming, sound development, photography, and other miscellaneous classes.
I was going through my discs to figure out all that I had and I came across an old Photoshop project, probably my most favourite project and teacher :)

My cousin Alison from Scotland was in town visiting till July 26th and she made a comment on my blog a couple months back about a bag that she liked. Well now whenever I see a bag on Etsy that I like I think of her. I’m glad I’m poor since with all the bags I find on Etsy that I love I would have a closest full! The gorgeous black and white bag caught my eye the other day and decided to do a post solely on bags, enjoy Alison :)

a) Marbled Bag – The bag that started it all – such bold crisp lines, definitely an eye catcher.
b) Tippy Thai – A simple red bag for a casual outing, loved the fabric texture.
c) Crazy Boy – I’m glad I’m not an avid collector of things, I could totally see myself collecting buttons.
d) Lamorez – It’s very intriguing how the whooshing on the sides are pockets.
e) Kinies – Amazing how a bow can dress up anything.
f) Smadar Shani Leather Designs – I like big bags, especially this one.
g) Sinem Inugur Handmade Bags – I’m normally not a texture person on bags/purses but I like this one.
h) Rutinet Designs – I guess I’m more of a tactile person, I loved the look of this creamy yellow bag.
i) I feel so bad! I didn’t write the owner of this one down, if you do know who this belongs to please send me the link.

I never thought I would complete this one so early in creating my 101 list. I’ve been putting my 101 list off for the past few weeks, since you no creating a business plan, setting up my business, and dealing with home issues isn’t enough.
When the iphones first came out, I admit I was not a fan. Maybe it had something to do with my colleague showing it off every chance he got or maybe it had something to do with my old boss giving it to a lovely employee. But either way I just had something against the iphones. I don’t like doing or owning the same thing that is ‘IN’ at the moment.
But then something changed, maybe it was Lizzie talking about her iphone, but I wanted one not a crave, but a want. K agreed with me that I needed a phone that would allow me to access my emails when I start my business. We came to the conclusion that unfortunately photographers get stereotyped into an ‘artist’ role that I would look funny carrying around a blackberry.
So… an iphone is now in my home and another goal is checked off my list :)

Thanks to the four people who entered :) It was interesting hearing your stories. If you have yet to join my Facebook Page I would love for you to do so.
Did a random number generator and I have to say I’m really pleased at the results, I think this person will get the most use out of these books and I look forward to see their business up and running soon.
And the winner is ….. Mandii Mae!!
If you could please email me with the address to send the books and treat, that would be fabulous :) And I will leave you with some cute sleeping kitty photos from my iPhone.

Easy. That word seems to be extinct in my vocabulary. Everything that I do seems to be over complicated, even a simple bus ride becomes crazy. This weekend was my first time volunteering outside of high school and it was far from easy.
Swimming for the BC Summer Games was out at Walnut Grove Community Centre. I never realized how wonderful that area is and what beautiful views of the mountains it has. If I had a car I would be looking for places out there in a heart beat. Unfortunately I don’t and the buses don’t connect that well to get me out there for the 7:00 am start time.
Friday started with me getting there at 7:30am, which ended up being two hours before the first races started at 9:30am, was starving for lunch at 11 so I left, the timed races didn’t start that afternoon till 2:00pm so I had four hours to spare. I asked to be inside since I don’t do well in the heat, but I did not know exactly how humid it would be in the pool; luckily they had doors they could open. Then after the medal presentation I found out I had a lovely female surprise, caught the wrong bus that took me too Guilford instead of Langley and by the time I got home my feet ached, my knee was stabbing pain, I had cramps and my back ached like I had pulled muscles. My simple photography trip that day took me twelve hours out of the house.
Saturday I took off.
Sunday was full of walking around in the heat and coming back home with a heat headache and nausea. At least I figured out my buses probably, despite missing a community shuttle that comes every hour and walked half an hour to my next bus.
Not so easy.
It was a great experience though – I’ve never shot a sporting event before and it was fantastic. The Swim BC officials were super nice (I seriously have never felt the power of the ‘media’ before, very scary.), the swim coaches were friendly, thanks to some other photographers giving me pointers, and Bev, Milt, and Dennis who organized everything for the photography volunteers.
Below are a sample of photos I shot for the BC Summer Games. Want to see more photos from the BC Summer Games? Go take a look at the website.
