You can’t have a big opening without having a giveaway. SEEDS made me completely rethink my way of running a business and changing my outlook on life, but it wasn’t the only thing. I love reading and always have; lately I have been reading a lot of business books. Two that have made an impact are Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson and Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferazzi and I want to share them with you. These are really fantastic reads Rework makes you completely think out of the box and Never Eat Alone is excellent on customer service. You can’t read books without a treat; the winner will be receiving a sweet to go with these two books.
I want to know what was your ‘Mount Everest’ in your life or business and how did you overcome it. Please comment with your story and a winner will be announced next Wednesday. Don’t read business books, they make the perfect gift for that perfect entrepreneur.

For me my ah-ha moment in my life was when my kids were born. I still remember the day my daughter was born like it was yesterday. After the birth I was holding her all swaddled up looking down at her for almost 2 hours. I knew that I had made her (with my wife) and that this was the most important thing in my life ever.
my business is still in the beginnings (as in, ahem, haven’t launched it yet;) but my “life” mount everest so far has taught me to not be afraid to stand out. i think it all started with appearance. almost every teen straighteners their hair, right? well i fell into this pit once too, but now i embrace my curly, wild hair. and i don’t have to get up at 6am to straighten it! ;) it started with that, but i’m also not afraid to stand up for what i believe, my morals, and my values, even if they’re different. it’s all little changes, but it has made a world of difference in my life:)
Does it count if I’m still in the process of climbing one of my ‘mt everests’? :) I’m still in the process of actually ‘being in business’…still in the process of making my photography my full time job and having actual ‘wedding seasons’ as opposed to doing a bunch of free work for family :) It’s been getting better, slowly, but it’s getting there. I hope. :)
LOVE the new blog and site! Amazing! My biggest mt everest moments was just getting the courage to START (aka, taking the leap of faith)! The thought of having to go out and meet strangers let alone take their photo totoally freaked me out! I was afraid that I was too young and people wouldn’t take me seriously, or that I’d be too shy or awkward to any enjoy photo shoots. I’ve proven both to be wrong and I’m so happy that I just jumped! I actually wrote a blog post about there here: http://lizziekimballblog.com/2009/11/taking-leaps-of-faith/
